Back to the Sea for Marie and Nil
Marie and Nil have made their way from the Northern section of the Velebit National Park into the Southern half, slogging through deep snow in the process.
In bitterly cold conditions the pair have seemingly been alone in the park, going a full five days without seeing a soul. They elected to make a slight detour to get some human contact and paid a visit to the village of Baške Oštarije. Here they enjoyed a holiday market and some mulled wine.
In mid-February, they were joined by their 16th guest, Jean-Baptiste. Jean-Baptiste is Marie's step-brother and joined the pair for eight days as they made progress towards the Bosnia and Herzegovina border.
With such wintry conditions, the group have been using small ultra-light sleds to help move their gear. By February 20, having fought through strong winds and icy paths, they arrived back at the sea. It seems it was a welcome relief to arrive back on the Croatian coast at the small town of Stari Grad after a tough time in the mountains.
