Approaching the “Bosnian Himalayas”
Bosnia and Herzegovina has continued to be good to Marie and Nil. They welcomed their 17th guest of the expedition on March 15; a local man named Aldin. Aldin tagged along for five days as they hiked from Tomislavgrad to his home town of Jablanica.
It was not an easy route through Blidinje Nature Reserve, with fresh snow and an ascent of the “Three Vran” (three mountains) to navigate. They enjoyed some beautiful star-filled nights and a full moon before finding their way to an iconic natural landmark, the Hajdučka Vrata. Located above Diva Grabovica canyon and some 6,500ft above sea-level this natural arch has been created by the wind.
After a cold few days, the group arrived in Jablanica and said goodbye to Aldin. Their next challenge would be the imposing “Bosnian Himalayas.” Wisely they've taken a couple of days off to prepare!
