Twenty days since he put in at the very source of the Mississippi River, Maldague has crossed numerous lakes through Minnesota and the river has widened significantly to about 50 feet when it's not part of lakes. Several rowing partners have joined him for certain sections, including Maren Hagen who is training for the United States canoe racing team. Zack (Coma Paddles Expedition), canoeing with his dog Ripper, has also often joined him even in camping. He has passed Lake Winnibigoshish and the small city of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
