Maldague Cycles Across Texas And Through Mexican Border

Date: December 30, 2018
Approximate GPS Location: (27.45°N, 99.62°W)

Maldague is now well into the part 4 cycling leg of his human-powered journey from the Arctic to the tip of South America.

He said he found it difficult to set up camp in Louisiana because of the extensive wetlands. Furthermore, he found both Louisiana and Texas a challenge due to their absence of cycling lanes.

In Houston, however, he was relieved to find lanes for cyclists. He also took some time out to see the "mind-blowing" NASA Space Center Houston. As he made his way west and southwest across Texas, he was pleased to find much less road traffic. It also became drier and more barren.

On December 26th he crossed the border into Mexico at Laredo. Maldague took a few paragraphs to explain the warmth and friendship he felt in his interaction with people during his trip across the US.
