Island Hopping Through the Antilles
After sheltering from a storm on St Martin, and a long wait for a new mainsail, Maldague was ready to continue his quest.
On September 4, he set off from the island of St Martin towards Guadeloupe. The weather was great, and his new sail is “much more powerful and efficient.” The crossing passed without incident and he arrived the next day in Deshaies, a small, picturesque village.
After a couple of days off to explore the area, he returned to his boat and headed south down the coast towards Malendure beach. There are several tropical storms raging out in the Atlantic but the weather in the Antilles has remained calm, Maldague plans to spend a few days enjoying the peace and quiet before planning his next major journey.
