Boat Sold, Maldague Sails on with Another Crew
Arnaud Maldague’s boat journey through the Caribbean to South America was only meant to last seven to nine months, in the end, it has been almost four years.
First, he lost his boat's mast, then Covid derailed any chance of continuing when most countries shut their borders. Maldague managed to get as far as Grenada, where he holed up to repair the boat and wait out travel restrictions. Once borders opened, he admits that he “wasn’t mentally and physically ready to continue the adventure right away.” He took some time to do a bit more sailing and exploring before he sold the boat.
He found a young couple to sell the boat to and will now continue his quest by joining another boat as a crew member. Leaving Grenada yesterday, he is now sailing towards Trinidad and Tobago.
