Bike Fixed, Maldague Continues Through The Andes

Date: December 02, 2023
Approximate GPS Location: (20.18°S, 67.66°W)

Maldague was lucky to find the parts needed to repair his bike in the nearby town of Juliaca and could continue to make progress getting to San Miguel de Tucuman, roughly 1,050 miles away.

He climbed up to an altitude of 16,000ft before dropping back down a bit and cycling along Lake Titicaca, between Peru and Bolivia. On November 18, he crossed into Bolivia, leaving Peru behind. "The roads have been calmer in Bolivia, with less traffic and wider emergency lanes, it is nice," he wrote. Unfortunately, he still found that trucks and buses would pass a little too close for comfort!

He was able to see a little of the Uyuni Salt Flats as he headed south and should have crossed the border into Argentina sometime in the last few days.
