SolarTuk Begins First Crossing Of Asia By Solar Vehicle
SolarTuk has been storming across Thailand at 31mph for the past 3 days. We had been waiting to hear from the expedition and had been assuming they would cross Australia east-to-west first, though there had never been any such reports from the field. Note that, as described in our previous updates, last November and December, the SolarTuk crossed Australia from South to North.
Then, suddenly, on June 21 we started seeing posts from the team as they traveled through Thailand. In Bangkok, as is typical for this crew, they met with solar power and electric vehicle organizations such as the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand and the Tuktuk Factory.
Then they drove out of Bangkok and spent some time in Bang Pa-In, Ban Wang Hin and Tak, Thailand. Finally, they reached Mae Sot at the Thailand/Myanmar border where they are currently located. Any day now they will cross into Myanmar.
