Onwards Through Rajasthan as Monsoon Arrives

Date: September 20, 2018

Salopek has published his latest milestone, near the small village of Dhankoli in Rajasthan. This marked milestone 58, and as always he sought out the first people he encountered for an interview. Babu Lal Sharma, a carpenter, and his grandson Puneet Mahender Jangid, were sat nearby in the shade. Babu answered his questions; where are you going Salopek asked? “As I grow old, there's only one way to go – to God.”

Salopek recently took some time in Jaipur to explore the city and has picked up another new walking partner, Priyanka Borpujari. As he continues on through Rajasthan he reports that the monsoon has started. The first rain of the season barely wet the sand, but as the monsoon builds he may find his progress slowed.
