From Baoshan, Salopek has worked his way from village to village on old silk road routes through Yunnan’s mountains.

He is now somewhere between Dali and Lijang and has marveled at how little some of the trail seems to have changed over the decades.

Today also marks another massive milestone for the Out of Eden walk. Salopek has now been walking for nine years, clocking up an incredible 7,650 miles.
