Salopek has continued his series of one-minute river videos, showing daily life along the waterways of northern India.

On December 28, alongside his walking companion, Siddharth Agarwal, he reached milestone 60 of his journey in Thara, Madhya Pradesh. The milestone brought his grand total to 5,900 miles on day 2050 of his epic journey. Thara is just a small truck stop town and both Salopek and Agarwal fell sick during their night in a bleak prison-cell-like room. The pair has not enjoyed much luck of late, having recently lost their donkey to fever. The mood was heavy as they entered the New Year.
