For the past two weeks, Dykes has been taking a hiatus from his journey in Dali, an ancient mountain-city fortress and the operations headquarters for his journey. He has been there to get visa extensions. He also seems to enjoy the beauty of the former mountain kingdom and says returning there symbolizes success and the overcoming of obstacles.

Dykes says he has also taken the opportunity to refuel his body "with all the good stuff" and work on "body mobility, agility and flexibility". Again he has been involved with more Chinese media PR including photo shoots by Adidas for GQ, performing the martial art, wuji, with Chinese action movie and martial arts celebrity Jacky Heung.

He has now returned to Wanzhou, where he left off two weeks ago, to resume his journey.
