Back to Walking Yangtze ‘Painted’ Yellow
After spending 3 or 4 weeks in the city of Chongqing visiting children, signing books and doing a 'PR blitz', Dykes only a few days ago returned to walking on the Yangtze, this time with his good friend Martyn. This next section with Martyn will be from Yibin, Sichuan to the city-state of Chongqing. Dykes estimates that walking it will take a week and a half.
His pictures so far show numerous splashes of yellow from rapeseed blossoming, typical of this region during spring. They walked through the city of Luzhou which reflected the greater urbanization characteristic of more downstream portions of the Yangtze. "[I] can see such a clear transition from rural to urbanisation," says Dykes.
