Veyt Battles Snow and Ice as he Enters Spain
In chilly conditions, Jelle Veyt has sped through southern France. He was in a rush to make it to the foothills of the Pyrenees where he would meet friends Glenn and Steven. Along the way, he has to plan his camping in advance which has mostly been to camp in people's private gardens. He is well equipped to camp in the cold and has welcomed the opportunity for some socially distanced social contact with the families he encounters.
In mid-January, he made it to the Pyrenees in time to meet his friends and celebrate his birthday. After celebrating with some takeaway pizza (necessitated by France’s COVID restrictions) and a beer, Veyt was ready to cycle into Spain. But first, he had to visit the town of Pau for another COVID test.
He was soon given the all-clear and able to cross into Spain. Out of the Pyrenees and into the Cantabrian mountains, Veyt cycled through even more wintery conditions with lots of snow and ice.
Veyt has now made it into the province of Extremadura in western Spain, close to where he will cross into Portugal.
