The Biggest Little City in the World
Anderson is down to the last four song locations in his Everywhere Man quest: Reno, Winnemucca, Crater Lake and Nebraska.
His next stop would be Reno, “the biggest little city in the world.” After a night camping, he drove through the Sierra Nevada and arrived in Reno. Anderson’s cousin Kent lives in the city and was able to show him around town. Together they checked out the city centre of this unique city.
Reno made its name as a gambling centre in the 1930s. Several large casinos were constructed, and the city remains a major gambling resort town to this day. Interestingly, it was also a divorce hotspot for a time. In the mid-20th century, in an effort to attract more visitors, Nevada relaxed residency requirements and hosted couples looking to get a quick separation!
Anderson already knew where he would like his “official” Reno photograph: the Reno arch. It turned out there were two of these famous signs, so Kent took Anderson to both. They snapped a great photo with one of the illuminated signs and Anderson was able to cross Reno off his Everywhere Man list.
