Leaving the Tundra, Canadian Team Reach Lake Kasba
Date: September 14, 2021
Approximate GPS Location: (60.35°N, 102.18°W)
We have not had much information from the Canadian wilderness team since they left Baker Lake, but they are gradually approaching the start of the final phase of their expedition.
The team has been navigating a chain of lakes as they head towards Black Lake. Along the way, they have been seeing lots of wildlife, including musk ox, migrating birds, and caribou. They have also finally left the tundra of the far north behind: “after 125 days of boats they made it to forest cover,” their team wrote on Facebook.
In their most recent update, the team arrived at Lake Kasba. They will need to cross the 43-mile lake as they continue south.
