Date: January 07, 2018
Approximate GPS Location: (-4.41, -66.08)

Pete Casey completed the Coari to Tefe, Brazil leg, 27 days through 143 mi of thick rainforest. This portion of the journey, including swimming across Lake Coari, was threatened by piranhas as well as pirate attacks, prompting an unplanned armed escort. With him was guide Jhonathan with brother Erland, a boy with a welcome sense of humor. The next leg to Fonte Boa is challenging with the onset of rainy season and rising water levels
