Casey Rebounds from “Difficult” Indigenous Region

Date: May 31, 2018
Approximate GPS Location: (3.42°S, 68.51°W)

Casey is nearing the Peruvian border to extend his journey westward into the Peruvian Amazon. To get to the border, he must pass through the Ticuna communities and reservations, which is a difficult and tricky proposition. The Ticuna are an indiginous Amazonian tribe that typically lived far inland away from waterways.

He reports he now has a Ticuna guide named Antonio. But he says he has experienced "setbacks" and was forced to return to Amatura to re-plan and re-route.
