Casey Reaches “Emerald City”

Date: February 16, 2018
Approximate GPS Location: (3.49°S, 66.10°W)

Finally in the hidden jungle city Jurua, which Pete refers to as the 'Emerald City', the journey was so difficult that his guide Everaldo is calling it quits. It was a journey where Pete swam in lakes of red-eyed piranha and there were "bright yellow mosquitoes, lots of animals & venomous snakes". Probably the most trying of all was the incessant rain and downpours soaking everything. For his next leg, Pete figures he will have to swim 11 miles and then up another "long, scary river" in order to reach land that is not inundated.
