Pete Casey

Casey and His Guide Totally Famished

Date: April 26, 2018
Approximate GPS Location: (3.53°S, 70.83°W)

Pete and his guide, Everaldo, are back to civilization and back on the Amazon River 'proper' after a particularly trying and harrowing stretch in which Pete lost 27 pounds, and his guide, 40 pounds! He reported lots of rain, lightning, flooded forest, river swims, tons of river meanders, 77-pound packs and generally "energy-sapping" terrain. Add to that giant ants, swarms of mosquitoes and hunger. Now in Amatura, Brazil, he is recovering and getting ever closer to the point where the Amazon exits Colombia and Peru into Brazil.
